Chile

SUMMARY

I had a great time in Chile. Santiago is an amazing city. It is trendy and feels very alive. I loved Santiago and can't wait to visit again. The Andes mountains can also be seen throughout the country and from Santiago.

Country #27 - Chile

Map

Must see

Sky Costanera - the tallest building in Latin America with amazing views of the city and the Andes

Easter Island - it would be much more than a day trip but would be worth it to see the famous statues

Torres del Paine National Park - stunning national park in the Patagonia region of Chile

CURRENCY

The official currency is the Chilean peso, but I had no problem paying by credit card everywhere I went.

Local TRANSPORTATION

Taxis are the most common form of transportation for tourists. I used an airport shuttle service that was cheaper than a taxi. I used Uber in the city. I was also able to walk a lot of the time.

international transportation

I flew LATAM from La Paz (LPB) to Santiago (SCL). I flew Sky Airlines from Santiago (SCL) to Buenos Aires (EZE).

FOOD

I had some great food in Santiago. I recommend the trendy Patio Bellavista area for some great restaurants.

PLUGS / ADAPTERS

Chile uses European plugs type C and type L.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

None for U.S. citizens.

SAFETY

I felt very safe during my entire stay in Chile. People are out and about at all hours in Santiago and it felt so safe.

SHOULD YOU VISIT?

Yes! I loved my short time in Chile so much. It is a country that I definitely want to go back to and spend more time in. There is so much to see and do and it is such a vibrant country that is only growing and getting even better. I can't recommend it enough!
