I loved my time in Panama. The Panama Canal alone is worth the visit to see in action and to learn about its history. The old town area of Panama is also really cool to see. The skyscrapers throughout the city are amazing and the town is lined by water.
Panama Canal - it is truly amazing to see a ship go through at the Miraflores Locks and the museum is really interesting and modern
Casco Viejo - the historic district of Panama City is a really great area with stunning architecture
Churches and Skyscrapers - there are some really awe inspiring churches in the heart of Panama City and the skyscrapers are so unique and plentiful
The official currency is the Panamanian Balboa. However, the Panamanian Balboa is equal to the US Dollar. I had no problem paying in USD everywhere I went but I mainly used credit cards.
I used Uber throughout my time in Panama and had no problems with it. It is very common and there is even the option to order an English speaking Uber. Rates are relatively cheap. I was also able to walk a lot in Cusco Viejo.
I flew Avianca from San Jose (SJO) to Panama City (PTY). I flew COPA from Panama City (PTY) to Bogota (BOG).
I did not have a sponsored hotel in Panama.
I felt very safe in Panama. However, you should just take precautions to make sure you visit safe areas and do not be out alone late at night, especially alone.
I had some really great food in Panama, including some of the best croquettes that I have ever had.
PLUGS / ADAPTERS
