Saint Lucia

SUMMARY

I absolutely fell in love with Saint Lucia. Of the Caribbean Islands, it was definitely my favorite. I stayed at my hotel throughout my stay, but there is also plenty to see on the island.

Map

Must see

The beach - just find a beach and relax, Saint Lucia is too beautiful not to

Pitons - really cool volcanic formations that you can see by hike or by boat

Sulphur Springs - volcanic mud bath

CURRENCY

The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, but I had no problem paying in USD or by credit card everywhere I went.

Local TRANSPORTATION

Taxis are the most common form of transportation for tourists, and as a result they are astronomically expensive.

international transportation

I flew LIAT from Saint Vincent (SVD) with a transfer in Bridgetown (BGI) to Saint Lucia (SLU). I flew British Airways from Saint Lucia's other airport (UVF) to Grenada (GND).

FOOD

I ate at the resort I stayed at and everything was amazing. There are, however, local restaurants to try in the cities on Saint Lucia.

PLUGS / ADAPTERS

Saint Lucia uses British type G plugs.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

None for U.S. citizens.

SAFETY

I felt very safe during my entire stay in Saint Lucia.

SHOULD YOU VISIT?

Yes! I did not have a more relaxing day during my time in the Caribbean. While Saint Lucia is definitely a resort island, there is a reason why. The water is crystal clear and there are many things to see and do on the island. I cannot recommend Saint Lucia enough!
