Ambassade Hotel

Ambassade Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the canal belt with 56 uniquely decorated rooms & suites in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Spanning ten original canal houses that were built during the 17th century (Amsterdam’s ‘Golden Age’), the hotel has retained its classical, historic character and allure.

I knew heading into my stay that I would be amazed with Ambassade Hotel just based on everything that I had read about online. And, it turned out, I was even more blown away than expected.

To start the stay I was greeted by Eelco, the reservations manager, and given a very warm welcome. Ambassade Hotel sits right on a canal and is such a cool place. Our room was beautiful with a canal view, amazing interior, and very cosy bed. Oh, and the best shower ever!

The hotel has a stunning library that features over 4,000 books. And get this: they are all signed by the author, and every single author had stayed at or been to the hotel!  And we are talking some really famous authors, too. There is also a very large collection of CoBrA art throughout the hotel which I especially loved (CoBrA was an European avant-garde movement, with the members' home cities being Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam).

Another highlight of Ambassade Hotel is the location. You legitimately could not beat it if you tried. It was in the very heart of Amsterdam, located in the idyllic Nine Streets area. The hotel was also a two minute walk from the closest tram stop which easily connected with the entire city if you didn't want to walk!

As if it hadn't already been a stunning stay, Ambassade Hotel really set themselves apart when it came to the people. We were greeted warmly every time we entered or left the hotel, had a great chat with the Library Bar bartender, and got to know Eelco over a great conversation in the Library Bar. We had such a great conversation and learned so much about both the Ambassade Hotel and its history as well as Amsterdam.

One final highlight was the breakfast. Not only was it impeccable, but the view out over the canal was pretty much the best breakfast view you could imagine. I am so glad to have been able to stay in such an interesting and historic hotel, and I highly recommend you check out Ambassade Hotel, its great service, and amazing location when you visit Amsterdam!
